50 years ago, on the 26th August 1967, Burt Munro set the under 1,000cc world motorcycle record at Bonneville. At age 68 and riding a 47 year old Indian Scout he’d bought new in 1920, he achieved an average speed of 184 mph, setting a record that still stands today.
To celebrate this milestone, Indian NZ have commissioned a Golden Anniversary Scout which will be auctioned on Trademe with all proceeds going to charities supported by the show. The bike is currrently on display at Cyclespot in Takapuna and will be at the show for the close of the auction. Painted by Al of Impact Cycles, the custom work includes Gold Leaf lettering on the tank, commemorative lettering inside the 3mm pinstriping! and subtle ghosted images inside the deep reflective paint work.
